Astigmatism has a high prevalence in cataract patients. Up to 70% of patients are candidates for astigmatism correction with toric IOLs 1. Both preoperative astigmatism and postoperative residual astigmatism affect visual function and vision-related quality of life. The surgical correction of astigmatism is the last frontier to optamizing visual outcomes for the patients. Post-operative refractive surprises are largely due to the assessment and management of pre-operative and intra-operative refractive variables2-4.
